En Paris – Day 7

Our last day in Paris we went to an antique market (which I didn’t get any photos of), the famous cemetery Père Lachaise, and a famous Christmas festival at Champs Elysées.

The road to the cemetery:

One of my very favorites:

If I was into tattoos I think this would be a really cool one:

Oscar Wilde’s grave stone, people kiss it:

Jim Morrison’s grave. I’m not a huge fan of The Doors but I still had to visit his grave:

People left him comments for Jim on a tree nearby:

The best vendor booth at the festival, a delicious creperie:

My sister took this image of me in a french cafe our last day and I like it (just wish I smiled!):

I’ve traveled a lot of places with a lot of people and this was definitely one the best trips I’ve ever gone on. It was wonderful bonding time with my mom and sister and memories I will never forget! I feel renewed and inspired from this trip (although physically I am exhausted!).

Happy Holidays Everyone!!

En Paris – Day 6

Today it dumped snow most of the morning and afternoon. This afternoon my sister and I went to the Paris mall which is a few blocks from our hotel (I really don’t like mall shopping but I had to see what it was like). I’m sad to report it’s not much different than US malls except a little trendier and a lot more expensive.

By evening it stopped snowing (and raining) so we all headed out to do the boat tour on the Seine river. It was really gorgeous, but cold! Here are some of my favorite shots from today (these photos are not edited):

I just thought this was a cool tree against the sky!:I’m exhausted, it’s 1:00am here which seems to be the time I’ve been going to bed. Anyway,  goodnight…

En Paris – Day 5

Today we went to Versailles Palace -  lots and lots of walking but it was so beautiful.

Inside one of the palaces:

My sister and I had fun taking some photos of each other in a beautiful grove of trees on Versailles grounds while my mom fed the birds:

I really like this portrait of my sister, it looks like she’s in a snow storm:

En Paris – Day 4

Today we took the train out of the big city into a smaller city called Chartres. We had an excellent lunch at a little local restaurant and then we went to the biggest Gothic cathedral in all of Europe. It was very beautiful.

(I’m still trying to figure out the image editing software that this netbook came with so please excuse the inconsistency in picture size, etc. Plus the monitor is so small it’s hard to tell how things look.)

A view of the country land from the train:

Cute sugar packets that they serve with their coffee drinks!:My yummy cappuccino!!:Inside the church, la cathédrale de Chartres:

A wonderful little cookie shop:

En Paris – Day 3

Today we ran a lot of errands such as getting Euros (which was hard to do — most of the banks don’t convert dollars into Euros so we had to go to the Post Office, which oddly does convert money), getting groceries for the room (the supermarkets are very neatly laid out and everything is package so well, a lot like Market of Choice where we live), as well as going to the Carnvalet Museum, the Marais district and the Paris Christmas market. It snowed a lot today and we were bundled up in three layers! Surprisingly the town does not stop because of snow – everyone was still out and about on the metro, shopping, and in cafe’s. The city was packed with stylish french people in their very warm coats with matching hats and gloves! It was fun to watch! Most of the images today are from the outdoor market and the Christmas market.

Snow!:The street market (kind of like our farmers market but with a lot of delicious hot food too):

Christmas market displays:

Some of the images were taken with my point and shoot camera so the quality isn’t as good, but my big camera is getting pretty heavy carrying it with me all the time !

En Paris – Day 2

Today we went to the Marche de Paris (street market) and the Eiffel Tower, it was beautiful!:

The view of the city from the top:

Yummy treats all over at the market — I love to see how the locals live & shop!:So much great chocolate here!:

We did a ton of walking today and I’m tired… Bonsoir!

En Paris – Day 1

It’s FREEZING here and absolutely beautiful. We did a lot of things today on our walk around Paris. We took the metro into the heart of Paris. We then walked along the Seine river to Notre Dame which was absolutely breathtaking. They were performing a ceremony inside and the woman’s voice was so angelic it gave me goose bumps! We are enjoying our time together and have so many more adventures planned. It’s now 2:45 Paris time so I should go to bed… keep checking back I hope to post more throughout the week! These are straight out of the camera with no flash or photo shop work done to them and they were posted from my netbook which is hard to post images on due to the size of the very small screen so please bare with me:
