Anthony + Kacey’s Wedding | Corvallis Wedding Photography

Anthony and Kacey’s wedding on Saturday was amazing and so much fun! It took place at The Vue in Corvallis. They are the sweetest couple, and have the cutest baby ever! Even though it was one of the hottest days of the summer (who would have thought that, it being September?!) we still went outside to do a few of the couple’s photos. Below are some of my favorites:

I love sunflowers — they are so happy and bright! The beautiful flowers were done by my favorite ladies Carol and Peggy of Celebration Florals.

Thanks Anthony and Kacey for having me photograph your wedding. It truly was an honor to be a part of your special day!

Joe + Naomi | Corvallis Business Photos Photographer

Joe and Naomi contacted me to photograph them for their business website. They play in a violin/guitar duo that provides music for weddings and events, and they are music teachers. They wanted photos with the Willamette Valley in the background, so we hiked Chip Ross park one morning and got some great photos. Below are a few of my favorites:

Thanks Joe and Naomi for hiring me to capture your vision! It was a pleasure getting to know you both, and you were so fun to spend the morning with!

Operating a Photography Business

Someone recently wrote me asking what it was like having my own photography business. She is starting out and wants to know the reality of it. Running this business is a lot more work than people think. Here’s a little peek into what goes on behind-the-scenes, these are just some of my job duties…

-customer service – responding to all emails and phone calls
-booking and scheduling shoots
-processing contracts and paperwork
-coordinating the shoot
-executing the shoot in a creative and artistic way (even when lighting is very challenging)
-downloading and sorting of images
-picking favorites for clients image gallery
-narrowing down favorites even further for blog post
-editing of all images
-uploading images to gallery
-corresponding to client about gallery and how to order
-ordering prints for client
-burning disc of images (includes making a pretty label for disc)
-mailing disc to client (packaging it in an attractive manner)
-creating and posting a blog post of favorite images
-designing of album in Photoshop
-ordering of album
-packaging album appropriately and shipping of album
-archiving files
-responding and posting via social media sites
-updating and maintaining websites
-keeping software and equipment updated and clean
-maintaining financial records for accounting & taxes

… And I’m sure there is more. So many people starting out think that owning and operating a photography business is cake. The photography part of it is definitely fun!! But you also have to be very organized and detail oriented to do the business part. I do everything myself which is rewarding but also stressful at times. If you are starting out, I hope you find this post helpful.

Overall, I love my job and wouldn’t trade it for the world!!

Allison | Corvallis Children’s Photographer

I’m so glad the warm weather is finally here!! I hope you’re all enjoying it as well. Please be patient with me as I am behind on blog posts — currently there are 11 sessions to post. I’ve been really busy so that’s good, but honestly it’s hard to keep caught up being that I’m a one woman business. In a perfect world I would have a PR person to do all my social networking and blog posts, maybe someday soon that will happen for me?!

Anyway, here’s my favorites from a mini-session I did of Allison:

Thank you to all my clients out there for keeping me busy! I love my job!!!

Simply Beautiful.

I love the fields of Queen Ann’s Lace this time of year. Beautiful.

Cody + Pamela’s Wedding | Corvallis Wedding Photographer

I recently photographed Cody and Pamela’s wedding at Northern Lights Tree Farm east of Eugene. It was a beautiful venue and the wedding was amazing! I love all the details that Pamela and Cody thought of — they added so much charm and uniqueness to this event. Below are some of my favorites, enjoy!:

Thank you Cody and Pamela for having me photograph your beautiful day! I hope your honeymoon was everything you dreamed it would be!!

Hannah | Corvallis Portrait Photographer

Below are a few of my favorites from Hannah’s session!:

Happy Friday!! | Corvallis Kids Portrait Photographer

Happy Friday Everyone! I’m so excited that we finally have some nice weather and can enjoy the summer!! Below is a recent shoot I did that I thought I’d share with you all:

I’ll be away from the computer the next several days, but I plan to blog a lot of posts soon. I’m close to being caught up with editing — this summer has been a fast pace whirlwind of traveling and awesome photos shoots!!

Reed + Naomi’s Engagement Session | Corvallis Oregon Portrait Photographer

Reed and Naomi were so much fun! I think we laughed through most of their session!! They are getting married in Scotland next year and wanted some engagement photos with an Oregon feel to them, so of course we went into the woods for their shoot. We had a fun time together capturing great moments! Below are some of my favorites:

Thanks so much Reed and Naomi for trusting me to capture your vision and for making me laugh so much!
